ICFS

The Imperial College Finance Society (ICFS) is the premier society for students looking for city careers. With over 2000 members, we are the largest careers focused society on campus. Our aim is to provide our members the resources they need to land their dream job in the city.

ICFS is sponsored by many top tier city firms in the accounting, banking and consultancy (ABC) sectors. We hold regular interactive events with leading investment banks and city firms. These events are aimed at providing our members with information about job opportunities in the city, as well as offering a forum to network with leading professionals in the city and bright individuals on campus.
We also organise talks and presentations on various financial topics such as derivatives, the recent global financial crisis, emerging markets etc. These are given by prominent speakers, who are experts in their respective fields.

In addition to this we are building relationships with other academic institutions worldwide, to share ideas and collectively pool knowledge and resources. In 2007-2008 ICFS initiated the UK’s very first student led Inter-University Trading Game (IUTG) which saw c.500 students from Imperial College, Oxford, Cambridge and LSE take part. In October 2009 we host the next IUTG sponsored by RBS, so if you fancy yourself as a trader, this is the place to be.

ICFS is known by all the major recruiters in the ABC sectors, and mentioning you have taken the effort to participate in these events could transfer your application from the 'maybe' to the 'yes' pile. The sooner you get involved in our activities the better, so all you first and second years out there, get involved and make sure you get clued up about the job you want.

UCLU EFS

Founded over half a century ago, the Economics and Finance Society is the largest and oldest society at UCL, providing for a membership composed of diverse disciplines and backgrounds. The EFS provides a unique perspective on careers and internships, whilst creating the opportunity to meet and befriend people with common interests. We are widely recognised as the most innovative and dynamic student society on campus at UCL, having demonstrated our professionalism and reliability since our inception.

The EFS provides a complete range of on and off campus events throughout the year that will give you the advantage you need. For those looking to gain the edge for interviews we offer series such as “IBD for Real” and “Markets for Real” as well as speed networking events with industry professionals. We also have a full range of events from all our sponsors and partners giving you the opportunity to gain a real insight into the different business areas. Combine this with our economics events such as talks from Tim Harford, Axel Weber and our industry recognised economics conference, and it’s clear that our calendar is the most interesting and diverse on campus.

In the past, the UCLU Economics and Finance Society have worked with world-renowned companies including Investment Banks, Management Consultancies and Professional Services firms. We understand and recognise the highly competitive nature of the UK Job Market and hence we aspire to build a relationship between our sponsors and our capable members. It is our goal to ensure that our members can kick start their careers and our partnership firms can access some of the brightest minds UCL has to offer. The trust we have established with our partners and members draws from our solid reputation for integrity and dependability. Our effort in ensuring our members' success is a legacy of experience, knowledge and achievement.

This year our efforts were recognized by ratemyplacement.co.uk, which named us as ‘The Society with the Most Forward Thinking Attitude to Work Experience’, of any society nationally. This bears testimony to the fact that we are extremely skilled in aiding our members achieve places on the most competitive of internships.

LSE SU FS

The LSE SU Finance Society is the premier student society at LSE. Since its foundation in 2002, it has grown to be one of the largest and most active career related societies on campus, with a membership base of over 3000, comprised of both undergraduates and postgraduates.

Our mission is to provide opportunities for members to learn about the various aspects of financial and professional services and to provide them with exclusive and high quality opportunities to learn and build their careers.

We hold in excess of 90 events every year, including educational lectures, trading simulations, case studies, résumé and interview workshops and exclusive networking opportunities with recruiters and industry professionals. The LSE SU Finance Society is sponsored by many world - class institutions from the Investment Banking, Professional Services and Legal Services industries. We are also kindly supported by various online professional websites and are dedicated to building a closely knitted professional network.

In addition, we also serve as a hub of information. By partnering with various institutions, we distribute a wide range of information, from career opportunities to industry developments. Our various publication channels and online discussion forums also provide a platform for members to exchange information and thoughts on recent financial news. We co-organised the LSE Economics Conference and are a society sponsor of the LSE Alternative Investment Conference. We also host the Annual LSE Alumni Networking Reception, with the aim of forging strong links between the alumni and student communities.
